It's been a long day!!!

Well today has been a looooong day! It all started with Emily not wanting to wake up to get ready for pre-school. It was my turn to drive in the car pool, so we NEEDED to be on time! She is so much like me that its funny. If it wasn't for the alarm clock, I would've still been in bed too! Plus Easton didn't wake up till 9am which is unusual for him. Its always on a day I have to be up! Anyway, we finally get there, drop Emily and her friends off and home I went to get ready for the day. While Emily was gone, I showered and got ready, all while Easton was either screaming or throwing a fit... And Nate was getting ready to leave for work. Anyone in my family will tell you that I dislike being "bugged" while trying to get hair and make-up done.. So I was pretty stressed trying to get ready to be on time to then pick up the kids from school. After picking up and dropping off all the kids after pre-school, I get a phone call from Nate asking if I was almost home.. Mind you he should be in SLC by now at work! His police car was dead and he needed me to take him to get some jumper cables... As we get in the car to do so, Emily asks, "Mom did you even do your hair today???" What?! "ummm yeah!" was all I said and Nate is dying laughing... We finally get his car started and he's off.. Leaving me with the kids..how rude. Seriously, Easton must hate it, as do I, when Nathan goes back to work after having three days off.. He loves his daddy and misses him while he's gone, therefore taking it out on guess who?! ME!!! That's not even the worst part! I waited until after Easton's nap to get some things at Wal*Mart... It was a big mistake to even attempt that place! Easton threw one of his extreme fits inside the shampoo and conditioner aisle. I'm sure I was red as a lobster, my blood was boiling at this point and I couldn't get outta there faster. Left the cart with all items still inside and fled the scene. I put him in his car-seat, slammed the door and Emily and I stood, waiting... waiting for what, I don't quite know.. After a few good minutes of him screaming inside the car I opened to door and heard a passerby say, "Someone isn't happy"...I didn't even look at the person making the comment.. So anyway, we got him calmed down..me not so much, but entered the store to give it a second try! We got our things, got outta there and home like lighting speed! Phew.. I'm exhausted just remembering the episode!!! Thankfully Tanielle called me to say hi and it was just at the right time cause I needed someone that could relate to help me calm down! Thanks Tan.. So anyway, I yelled a silent "hallelujah" and pulled a fist when I came downstairs with both my angels sleeping!!!

You're so funny! I know it's really not funny, but I was laughing! I feel your pain! Some days are just that. LONG. I'm glad we got to chat! Your the best mom Dianna, I need to take lessons from you. Tommrow is a new day but don't think about it too much. Enjoy tonight while the kids are sleeping! - Tanielle

Just remind yourself "this too shall pass" when you face another "extreme tantrum". Been there many times. It does get easier as they get older, I promise! You're a great mom!!

I'm so sorry, I totally know how it goes! I'm glad you made it home in one piece, and I completely know what you mean when the kids are asleep, you think how can I ever be so mad at them...awake is a different story though! :o)

Don't you love when strangers make little comments like that? Sometimes it's all I can do not to make some smart comment back to them, but then I remind myself I'm mature! (right???)

Love your story but I can totally one up you:)! Try having a newborn, a terrible two-er, a crazy hyper 4 year old, and a 5 year old fighter boy. After my last Wal-mart trip with all of them a few months ago- I decided NO more Wal-mart with all my kids! Every eye in the store was on me. Caleb pushed the cart with the crying newborn into a fat guy- hey at least it wasn't a little old lady! I can't believe you went back in! You are one tough lady! Ahhhh it is so nice when they are sleeping:).

Such a funny story and glad to know you had the endurance for 'take two'! It was so great seeing you & your darling fam tonight. And I'm so glad you blog - in spite of Nate's teasing!
