The last couple days have been unreal. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that one problem after another has occurred. But the funny thing is, is that it's only those things that Nate has touched. It's like he's being punished for some unknown reason, and it's really getting old!!!! Usually, for disclaimer sakes, he is really good at fixing things!
Just a run down of the latest within the last week:
- Nate takes Emily to school, brings her home, and the garage door opener stops working. He tries to fix it, and realizes after a couple hours that it's shot. Not even fixable. I take a trip to Home Depot, buy a new one...$$$
- Nate decides to check our sprinkler system. Finds eight heads broken. Home depot again, with a whole yard full of new sprinkler heads. $$$
- Nate begins to grill some hamburgers on our gas grill. Realizes the propane is out, tries to take the can off, and the hose regulator is rotted and breaks into pieces. Home Depot does not carry that old of a part so we buy a brand new gas grill. $$$
- Nate has to take down the old garage door opener for the guy to install the new one. Tries to fix a wheel that is loose and the whole spring system comes apart. One corner of the garage door is dangling from the frame, about 2 inches from crashing into the car. Many swear words later, a professional is here to fix the problem. $$$
(The new garage door opener works like a charm bytheway, we are praying it lasts for a really really long time!)
Can we just get a break?? Not literally, just a break from all the breakage??? We are beyond exhausted with trying to fix everything, and our checking account is hating life right now!! As the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours"!!! We are praying that everything will be alright at least for awhile. Bad Karma? Maybe, or maybe it's a jinx of some sort, who knows. All I know is that Nate is staying away from fixing anything for awhile.. =)

Wow! Sounds like an interesting week. I hate weeks like that, for us it's just when we feel like everything is going great we get a week like that...
That stinks!! But on the bright side, maybe we can come out and have a BBQ with you guys on your new grill before we leave for this summer.
Your stories totally remind me of the Mastercard commercials except for the end result is not necessarily "priceless." I miss you guys and your stories.
It could be worse. Be grateful you didn't have to pay for what we did last year: replaced broken water heater (over a thousand dollars ALONE), recharged our AC unit, paid professional to fix our broken sprinkler water line, replaced our car battery, had to fix a flat tire on our car while out of town, had to replace our car's brakes/pads, paid for emergency surgery and emergency stitches, spent hundreds of dollars for a professional who didn't fix what we had hired him to fix, paid locksmith to repair a vandalized doorknob, paid to repair vacuum that ultimately had to be replaced, ALL IN ONE YEAR. Need I go on? Join the club.
WOW.... what a bummer! It does seem like frustrating things happen all at once. I bet Home Depot is loving you guys though! Good luck with everything, and I will be wishing all sorts of good luck for you guys... so get ready! BTW.. thanks for the comment on my blog, wish we all live closer to each other!
Yeah, I know the feeling. Although my solution is to live without it most of the time since our checkbook isn't just looking sad, it is devastated. I have been without a stove for over a month now, hoping to balance the budget so we can have a little more variety to our meals again.
I think my husband is tired of hearing "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without"
Here's to hoping you get a good break!
Uncle Bob & I want to know if Nate watches Home Improvement and is trying to be like "Tim, the Tool Man?
