However, amidst the chaotic growth, we have found numerous fruits! The kids were ecstatic when we found a ripe tomato to be plucked from the vine!
They devoured it after we sliced and salted it. It gives me a sense of accomplishment as I see the picked tomatoes on my kitchen window sill. With prices in the grocery store almost double from what they were even a year ago, I am thankful for our little tomato jungle. I can't wait to make salsa and have fresh tomato bacon sandwiches! Yum!
I love this time of year when all the produce "comes on".. I love getting the fresh cucumbers from Grandpa Wiley's garden, along with zucchini, and much more! Salads taste so much better when you know where the veggies came from! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Wiley for the bounteous produce! I look forward to apple season too! Last year we made a ton of applesauce which unfortunately hasn't lasted long in our house.. We love that stuff!
Other than that, there really hasn't been much excitement around here. Nate and I were able to go on a date last Wednesday thanks to Tanielle! Nate came up with a great idea that I thought sounded so romantic but when Emily heard the idea she had puppydog eyes! He thought we should drive up American Fork canyon to a lake up there and have a dutch oven dinner! So with me being a softy, I opted to do that WITH the kids on another day. I told Nate we should do something that WE don't get to do often with the kids and save the lake dutchoven dinner for a family outting.. So being the boring routinist that I am we went to dinner and a movie. But seriously, we don't eat out very often, and if we do its usually McD's or Wingers..with the kids. It was nice to stroll around JL (jordanlanding) sipping on a Jamba juice, catching a movie and then slowly eating my meal at Johnny Carinos, a nice Italian place. Very nice and relaxed! Thanks Tanielle for babysitting the kids for us! You forget how NEEDED alone time away from the kids is. I need to plan our dates more frequently! Any fun dating ideas from you all would be nice, since I rack my brain trying to find fun, creative and CHEAP dates to do!

Nice job on the gardening. We just picked and ate our first red tomato today! Your date sounds lovely. I don't have any date ideas for you. I think just going to dinner is the best date ever! You don't have to shop for the food, cook the food, or clean it up. Perfect!
Wow, I'm impressed with your garden. Very nice! I hate tomatoes though...bad experience when I was young, scarred me to this very day! True story!
Anway, good for you.
Aren't date nights the best! I was trying to think of fun things Jake and I do, but it usually ends up being dinner and movie. You forget how great it is to just enjoy a meal in peace then get lost in a movie that your kids couldn't see!
Glad you had a fun time!
Homegrown tomatoes are the most delightful treat I could ever think of. I can't get enough! Oh, and BLT's.... don't even get me started, I love them so much. I'm impressed you have a garden of your own, I haven't been that ambitious yet, but I think I will eventually.
I really do think going out to dinner is the best date. It's such a treat! Then whether it's a movie, rental, or just going on a walk, it's so nice to remember that you still have a crush on your husband, enjoy conversations, laugh, and that you still feel special when he holds your hand. It's the best.

We still need to switch off kids even though I am not in your ward. W have to get together more. Where do you get the apples for applesauce? Spencer and Clif love apples so you will for sure have to show me on that one!
It's so nice to get a night away with you honey. Even if it is dinner and a movie, just being together is so fun.
I love your tomatoes. They look very healthy. You will be bottling very soon.
I think you said you would be here in a few days. I hope to hear from you.
